About us

We are a family-owned Sydney printing business with over 80 years of commercial label printing history.

Wagner Prestige Labels was founded by Richard Galea, who had taken the reins from Emanuel Galea who emigrated from Malta in 1935.

The family-owned business is currently led by Managing Director John Galea and his son Christopher Galea. Under their leadership, the company has grown to provide labels for businesses of all sizes across Australia.

Wagner Prestige Labels prides itself to ensure the production of high-quality labels for a variety of purposes by investing in the latest, cutting-edge digital printing and production technologies.

A brief history

2018

Running at full capacity now meant upgrading our power supply to secure our future.

2017

Improving on workflow saw the introduction of ESKO plate making. Giving us faster pre-press preparation, and high quality, digital plates across all machines.

2016

An upgrade of our laser press; We installed a new 6 colour + white EPSON inkjet press. Complete with ESKO software for accurate colour matching and variable information.

2015

We saw our 370 web 8 colour Digital Flexo complete with cold foil, multi-page, and flexible packaging.

2013

With our footprint for growth needed, we acquire 33 Hallstrom Place.

2011

Upgrading our 4 colour Screen Press. Now complete with foil stamping and die cutting.

2010

This year saw our first 4 colour laser Digital Press for small print jobs.

2009

Wagner Labels acquires JV Labels / JV Group. Introducing new lines including general print and embroidery.

2008

A new Inline Inkjet for back-print numbering was introduced, to cater for demand on variable data with direct thermal, and thermal transfer.

2007

For big production runs of 250,000+, an introduction of a new 6 colour & varnish machine was installed.

2005

Increasing capacity also meant the increase of inspection and finishing, with a new finishing line.

2004

The introduction of our new 7 colour press with foil stamping, embossing, die cutting and varnishing.

2003

Completion of our full in-house pre-press, allowing us to go from artwork to film to plates.

2001

Installation of the Screen Printing machine to cater for outdoor, and specialty labels.

2000

New Slitting & Inspection machine installed for increased capacity.

1998

The installation of the first 6 colour inline press - complete with foil stamping, die cutting, and UV varnishing.

1997

Expansion and relocation to purpose built factory premises in Wetherill Park.

1989

New ownership, bringing multicoloured labelling. Relocated to larger premises in Wetherill Park.

1938

Established and built a reputation for quality embossing labels and seals.
